Vulcan’s Stack House scores LEED Platinum

Congratulations!!  Stack House Apartments, owned by Vulcan Real Estate and designed by Runberg Architecture Group, achieved Platinum certification under the LEED for Homes Mid-Rise Rating System, in December 2013.

The project, which consists of 279 residential units and 9,000 square feet of commercial space, achieved a projected residential EUI of 28 kBtu/sqft/yr and a 50% reduction in domestic water consumption. Innovative energy strategies include a reverse cycle chiller to use waste heat from the garage to heat domestic hot water, isolated elevator shafts to reduce stack effect air flows, and ductless mini-split heat pumps in some of the residential units.  42,000 gallons of rainwater storage will meet most of the irrigation water demand for roof-based P-patch, other green roof areas, indoor “wintergarden” amenity area and other plantings.
