O’Brien & Company was recently named the “Regional Verifier of the Year” by Northwest ENERGY STAR Homes and its Washington utility partners.
We were selected for our dedication in providing third-party verification for Northwest ENERGY STAR Homes, and for incorporating energy-efficient building techniques into the built environment.
“It is an honor to be recognized for our commitment to driving energy efficiency in the building industry,” said Alistair Jackson, Principal at O’Brien & Company. “We have worked with a variety of builders and developers, including affordable housing organizations, production builders and custom home builders to integrate strategies and specifications to meet or exceed Northwest ENERGY STAR Homes standards. By helping our clients find solutions to lower their energy consumption, we’re also helping them deliver more comfortable homes that will cost less to operate.”
O’Brien & Company is a nationally recognized leader in energy-efficient and green building consulting, guiding clients toward more efficient options that are both practical and sustainable. O’Brien & Company has directly contributed to the market growth of Northwest ENERGY STAR Homes by testing and certifying over 1,200 homes since joining the program at the end of 2005.
“We are proud to work with O’Brien & Company through Puget Sound Energy’s Single Family New Construction Program,” said Kevin Peterson, Program Coordinator for Single Family New Construction at Puget Sound Energy. “They act as a true leader in energy-efficient building by providing consulting and training to building owners, developers, architects, contractors, municipalities and other organizations that influence the building industry.”
Homes earning the nationally recognized ENERGY STAR label are at least 15 percent more energy-efficient than homes built to current state codes in the Northwest. During 2012 alone, over 3,076 ENERGY STAR qualified homes were constructed by over 400 area builders, adding to the over 21,200 homes that have been certified since the program’s inception in 2005.
