Washington Green Schools Program

WAGS logoWashington Green Schools is a voluntary, web-based program your school can use to reduce its environmental and carbon footprint. The program provides resources and tools to help schools involve their teachers, students and staff by taking action in the five program categories:
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Recycling & Waste Reduction
  • Toxics Reduction & Indoor Air Quality
  • Transportation & Outdoor Air Quality
  • Water Quality & Conservation

O'Brien & Company has helped to pilot the program through two phases, testing the program content and also collecting feedback about the user interface in the online format. Six schools around the state began testing the program in the spring of 2008 and ten more schools began testing the program in the fall of 2008. As the program went live, O'Brien & Company created a video tour of the web site to help schools navigate the program. In the first year, over 100 schools statewide joined the program.

The Washington Green Schools Program is available to all Washington State schools. Please visit www.wagreenschools.org for more information about participating.
