Stakeholder Feedback on C&D Initiatives
As part the path to zero waste, the City of Seattle is developing new program initiatives to increase the amount of construction and demolition (C&D) materials recovered for reuse, recycling and beneficial use. O’Brien & Company was engaged by the City to collect stakeholder feedback on a package of ordinances on C&D recycling, disposal, hauling, and processing. O’Brien is preparing summary reports and interview results for the City to provide to City Council at the end of 2010.
A related task in this project is research on market development and product stewardship for products made from recycled construction materials. The City of Seattle is a leader in environmentally preferable purchasing and this task extends their market leverage and outreach work to support possible regulatory changes.
