Salishan 7

Salishan 7 is a 91 unit affordable housing project of the Tacoma Housing Authority. The final phase of a large development, Salishan 7 is targeting LEED for Homes Platinum certification. The project is using an upgraded envelope including insulated slab, high performance insulation and windows, rigorous air sealing, mini-split heat pumps with backup electric resistance heating. The design and construction team is placing a high priority on avoiding indoor contaminants and using continuous ventilation for improved air quality. The project landscaping includes extensive on-site stormwater management features and should reduce outdoor irrigation demand by 45%.

As LEED for Homes Provider, O’Brien & Company provided technical assistance and education for the project team on compliance with the rating system, and construction verification and performance testing as the Green Rater.

Salishan 7 contained the 10,000th home certified under the LEED for Homes Rating System. Read more.
