LEED Benefits for Hawaiian Schools
O’Brien & Company served on a team that studied the economic, environmental, and occupant benefits of LEED certification on K-12 schools in Hawaii. O’Brien & Company identified existing policies in Hawaii that could impact the implementation of LEED, and other policies around the country. The in-depth research included interviews conducted both with policy makers and the people implementing the policies on the ground.
O'Brien & Company provided guidance on implementation of a LEED requirement and produced two illustrative case studies. Our study was concurrent with the enactment of green building legislation. The final report, titled "Analysis LEED Certification Benefits for State of Hawaii and K-12 Public School Facilities", provided a resource to the Hawaii Department of Education in implementing the legislation.
