Fire Station #30
As part of a city-wide initiative to rebuild or retrofit most of its fire stations, the existing Mount Baker Fire Station # 30 was replaced with a new 9,100 square foot facility. The City of Seattle mandate required the project to achieve a Silver level of LEED certification.
O’Brien facilitated a LEED Workshop to evaluate the project’s sustainable design features using the LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) and verified documentation during the design and construction phase. O’Brien was instrumental in assisting a first time contractor with applicable LEED credits, finding points in credits that were unexpected during initial evaluation.
The project achieved LEED Gold certification in 2011 and continues to receive accolades one year post-occupancy. Occupants are reportedly very happy with the new station.
