King County worked with O’Brien & Company to create green O&M guidelines for use at all King County facilities. The purpose of these guidelines is to:
- help achieve a standard level of green building O&M at all King County facilities;
- provide guidance to O&M staff in developing sustainable O&M practices for their facilities; and
- serve as a resource for updating existing O&M plans to meet the goals identified in Ordinance 16147.
O’Brien & Company co-facilitated early meetings with the County’s Green Team; created, collected and revised content per the committee’s feedback; and worked closely with committee members to integrate templates and examples from King County projects. We also produced a short video on how best to use the guidelines for King County staff. This project successfully met the County’s expectations to ensure relevance for multiple County departments, produce a customizable working document, and earn the buy-in from the future users.
